Trial of Position:
Hatchlings Banshee, Xavier and Stalker
-24-8-03
Truly bountiful are our nests, for our ranks are filled with the younglings, all bred for battle, for combat, for the way of Kerensky
But as with all, all must prove their honour within Trial.
Hatchlings Banshee, Xavier and Stalker were due to take flight, to face foes already proved worthy to stand with the Touman.
To win their right to stand with their brethren. Powering forward, they strode to face their individual Trials.
Hatchling Banshee, within the armoured shell of his Dire wolf was the first to be judged, choosing a Summoner as his challenge.
His foe took upon the aspect of the Vulture, taking his time against the Hatchling, reserving his attacks for when Banshee was the most vulnerable, and he the least
Encircled, the Dire Wolf’s lack of grace proved its downfall
Unable to corner his other, unable to strike or rend his flesh Hatchling Banshee fell victim to the laser blasts and salvos of gauss slugs that came with every pass
May at his next Trial he learns from his defeat.
Soon after, it was Hatchling Xavier’s time to fly, As he chose his opponent with care, taking with him the armoured might of the Kodiak
Intending to tear apart all those who stood in his way.
Now stood before him, another proven warrior, favouring the tried and tested Shadow cat
For minutes they struggled, as the Kodiak pursued its quarry, both bloodied and battered by the other
Toying with one another they took to the hills of the arena
But with a powerful blow, Xavier defeated his foe and won the rank of Mechwarrior.
A Hatchling no more and a Hatchling continued, all that remained was for Hatchling Stalker to try his might against that of the Clan.
Taking his Raven into the fray, he scanned the field of battle for a worthy opponent.
As such, he settled for a Wolfhound arrayed with those that stood against him.
Offering his hand in challenge, the two Mechs began to dance the dance of the warrior.
Darting and thrusting they began, as the onlookers observed, each raking hits against each other.
Moving to and fro, twisting and circling.
But with the cries of its lasers, the Wolfhound defeated him, proving him not yet worthy of our Clan’s Touman.
May this Trial be both tribute and warning, for all Hatchlings are Trialed at the end of their upbringing.
It is tribute to our glorious method, but it is a Trial that only those truly prepared may hope to conquer.
Hatchlings were three, but no longer one be.
