Trial of Bloodright:
Icaza
-12-8-2003
Thus it was that the Trial of Bloodright was announced, the candidates chosen, the circle of equals prepared for the conflict that was to come.
Knox, Candyman, Ceasar, Thatguy were summoned by Turkina’s call to bear arms, to fight for their Father, Carl Icaza’s sacred name.
Each the other’s equal in battle and honour
But all but one must fall, all must be judged by their strength of arms
The first to step in the circle, Mechwarrior Knox, amongst the youngest of the Clan
Brave and noble, shaving scorn from his peers for his character and youth like discarded feathers.
Closely followed, opposing him was Mechwarrior Thatguy, older and more experienced, though their talons were equally sharp through battle and testing.
Specially prepared was their ground: A Jungle enviroment, prepared by the joint labours of the Scientists and Technician Castes on which to test the skill of our throng
And that before the first salvo was fired, the warriors took stock of what was to come.
But reflection was soon over as they charged
But no sooner had they bore each other in their sights had Mechwarrior Knox, diving underneath Thatguy’s assault, struck him true to the ways of the falcon
The blow tore his opponant’s arm away, and was followed by such a frenzied assault that tore Thatguy asunder
And had scarcely a moment passed, and he was triumphant, his victory assured!
Soon, Mechwarrior Candyman, oldest and most experienced in Falcon way and lore, already granted the honour of bearing our Clan’s wisdom stood forth, for long had he desired to be of full blood.
For hours he waited for his opponant, Mechwarrior Ceasar to stride forth, announcing his arrival with a salvo of missiles.
But he did not, and his right to the Icaza bloodname was forfeit, and disgusted, Candyman turned to face Knox in the final battle.
In the twisted wreckage of a construction arena they fought, two of the Clan’s finest duelling it out.
In bidding, Candyman had backed his younger opponant into an unfavourable fight, favouring his own bloodlust and skill at close quarters.
But young Knox, seeing a chink in his rival’s strategy chose his weapons with care, outwitting the outwitter with cunning resolve.
And knowing this, Candyman resolved, that if he was die, he would die with talons rending, cords shrieking defiance, for he knew he was bested.
In accordance to his honour, when the bidding ended he chose not to reconfiqure his choices, seeing the freespawned virtue that such an action would show.
As the warriors arrived on the field, the warrior opened his comms, And announced to his foe: “Expect me to fight to the best of my abilities” his fate sealed.
And honourably, Knox replied to him: “Aff, and expect me to fight to the best of my abilities also”.
So words were said, and the battle was joined.
Ducking and weaving like our namesake, Knox blasted Candyman’s mech with all he could muster, outmanovering the slower Adder with his own Wolfhound.
First taking away his opponant’s stings in his arms, then finishing the body.
And before he fell, Candyman announced: “Expect the fight of your life” as he continued to fire, knowing well that defeat was near.
And that said, and the battle done, his mech crumbled to the ground.
Through adversity Mechwarrior Knox Icaza won his fight to bear the Bloodname of Carl Icaza, besting the greatest warriors of our Clan.
His was the way of the Falcon, Noble and proud, steadfast and resolved.
Seyla!
